The Ramair open intake suitable for the BMW MThe 5 replaces the standard airbox with a full-fledged open intake system featuring two cone filters and a carbon fiber intake pipe. The entire setup is designed for maximum airflow to the twin-turbo V8 and also results in a significantly more pronounced intake noise under load.

The integrated heat shield isolates the filters from the hot engine compartment. Air from the factory air intake is directed around both conical filters, keeping the intake temperature low. The carbon fiber covers further reduce heat absorption in the filter area.

The double-angular intake pipe smooths the airflow towards the turbocharger and reduces turbulence in front of the compressor wheels. The result: noticeably improved responsiveness and a richer sound during load changes.

Material

Laser-cut and precision-folded heat shield, black coated, with carbon fiber covers. Carbon fiber composite intake pipe, clear-coated. Proram (Ramair's own brand) filter elements with washable and re-oilable aluminum filter media. Hose connections made of dimensionally stable silicone, secured with stainless steel hose clamps.

Complete system as a replacement for the standard airbox. Installation is done using the factory mounting points and can be carried out with common tools. An illustrated step-by-step instruction manual is included with the kit. Installation is also available at FLOW DOWN® in Essen.

Information on admission

The kit is supplied with a parts type approval (TTG) – the successor to the ABE (General Operating Permit). A modification inspection according to the German Road Traffic Act (StVZO) is not required. It is sufficient to carry the supplied documents in the vehicle and present them upon request.
