Description

The FLOW DOWN® magnetic license plate holder for the VW Golf 7 replaces the original screw mount with a clean magnetic system. The holder fits all Golf 7 variants – from the standard model to the GTI, R, and Clubsport. The license plate can be removed and reattached in seconds for photoshoots, track days, or car meets.

High-performance neodymium magnets, tested up to 300 km/h and practically tested on the Nürburgring Nordschleife with racing driver Loris Scheider. Magnets and manufacturing made in Germany.

Material

High-performance neodymium magnets in a robust plastic housing. Weather-resistant and tailored to the bumper contour of the Golf 7.

Usage

Screw the magnets onto the bumper, stick the magnetic plates onto the license plate – done. Simply attach the license plate and remove it again if needed.

Optional installation is also possible at FLOW DOWN® in Essen.

Suitable for German metal license plates and 3D license plates. Additionally fits all common EU license plates (including Austria, Switzerland, Netherlands, Belgium, France, Italy, Spain, Poland) as well as license plates from the UK, USA, and Canada.

Does the holder really fit all Golf 7 models, from the base Golf to the R?

Yes. All Golf 7 models – Standard, GTI, GTI Performance, GTI Clubsport, GTD, R, R Performance, and Variant – use the same mounting for the front license plate holder. The holder fits all versions without modification.

Does it make a difference whether I have the pre-facelift or the facelift model?

No. Both the Golf 7 pre-facelift (model years 2012–2017) and the facelift (model years 2017–2020) have identical mounting points for the original license plate holder.

Does the holder affect the front assistants on the Golf 7 GTD or R?

No. The holder is positioned at the factory-designated location of the original license plate holder and lies outside the detection range of the front sensors – cruise control and emergency braking assistant continue to function unchanged.

Can the holder be combined with aero attachments like the GTI Clubsport S splitter?

Yes. Even with the more aggressive front splitter of the Clubsport S, the holder is positioned centrally in the unchanged original license plate holder location.

Are additional holes needed in the bumper?

The magnets are usually screwed onto the factory-installed mounts. Where no pre-drilled hole exists, the screw is directly screwed into the bumper – creating a small screw mount there.

What should I consider when washing the car?

In a traditional cloth car wash, it is recommended to briefly remove the license plate. At a self-service wash bay with a high-pressure cleaner, the license plate can remain mounted.
