Does the spoiler lip fit an A3 8V without S line?

It is documented for the S3 and A3 with S line from the facelift. If unsure, send us a photo of the rear - we will confirm the fit before you order.

How do I tell whether my 8V is a facelift?

By the first registration date in the vehicle documents. Model years 2016 to 2019 are documented. Older cars need a different part.

Why does the tape sometimes fail on older cars?

Because the roof spoiler often carries traces of sealant or hard wax. 3M does not grip that permanently. The layer has to come off with silicone remover first - the most common mistake when bonding yourself.

Does the fitting have to be entered in the papers?

No. A parts type approval is in place, so fitting needs no registration entry. You only need to carry the papers.
