The S55 in M2 Competition – finally with the sound it deserves

With the Competition version of the MBMW has 2 F87 M the compact rear-wheel drive S55-biturbo from the M3 F80 missed out – 410 hp inline six-cylinder engine, sharper and more rev-happy than the N55 in the normal model. M2. What BMW has kept acoustically subtle is history with the GRAIL flap exhaust system. Full of S55-character, powerful and aggressive in Sport mode, subtle in Cruise.

Completely made of L304 stainless steel, handcrafted in Germany. ECE type approval – therefore registration-free in all EU vehicles with standard approval. Ready to drive immediately after installation, without a TÜV inspection.

Flap control – factory-installed

The MThe 2 Competition has its own exhaust valve control system as standard – the GRAIL takes over this completely. This means: no additional valve control is necessary, no wiring, no remote control. The valves are controlled via the factory-set riding modes of the M2 addressed, just like BMW M it was designed as standard from the factory.

• In the M-Sport mode opens the flaps fully – full GRAIL sound
• In Comfort mode they remain closed – discreet and ECE-compliant

3 inches or 3.5 inches – which diameter?

Both variants are technically mature and suitable for the SDesigned for 55:

• 3 inches: Classic sports exhaust diameter, acoustically somewhat more subdued, ideal for standard production vehiclesM2 Competition with Daily suitability
• 3.5 inches: Maximum throughput and more voluminous sound, especially for high-performance applications M2 interesting with stage tuning

Those planning ECU tuning or wanting maximum sound should go for the 3.5-inch version. Those who want to retain the OEM Plus character should stick with the 3-inch version.

Tailpipes – stainless steel or black

• Brushed stainless steel: Sporty and elegant, high-quality look at the rear – matches the classic look
• Black: A subtle yet aggressive look – especially well-suited to a black package and dark rims.

Material & workmanship

LMade entirely of 304 stainless steel, with CNC-precision machined components. The silencers were specially designed in the GRAIL sound lab. S55-biturbo of the MTuned for 2 Competition. Flow-optimized pipe routing minimizes exhaust backpressure. The solid stainless steel flaps switch precisely and are durable enough for everyday use.

Swiss suitability assessment

Upon request, you can receive a Swiss suitability assessment for the GRAIL system for an additional fee. If interested, simply contact support.

• BMW M2 Competition F87 – Bj. 2018–2021 (S55-Motor)

Not suitable for: BMW M2 F87 (N55 engine, separate system available in the shop), BMW M2 G87 (S58-engine, separate system). Separate GRAIL systems are available for each of these models.

Information on admission

Registration-free thanks to ECE type approval – applies to all EU vehicles with standard registration. For imported vehicles with a different operating permit, please check registration requirements before ordering. The ECE type approval certificate should be kept in the glove compartment.
