The OPF system for the late Golf 7 GTI

With the 2017 facelift, VW not only gave the Golf 7 GTI a subtle visual update, but also integrated the gasoline particulate filter (GPF) into the exhaust system. This toned down the GTI's sound even further. The GRAIL 3" flap exhaust system is specifically designed for this GTI-equipped variant and unleashes the late-model GTI's full potential, which VW had acoustically suppressed.

Completely made of L304 stainless steel, handcrafted in Germany. ECE type approval means: no registration required for all EU vehicles with standard approval. Ready to drive immediately after installation, without a stop at the TÜV inspection station.

Flap control – via two integrated vacuum flaps

Since the Golf 7 GTI facelift doesn't have its own exhaust flap control from the factory, the GRAIL system comes with two integrated vacuum flaps. These are connected once during installation – a simple, quick process. Control is then automatic via your Golf 7's driving modes.

• In Sport or Race mode, the flaps open fully – full GRAIL sound.
• In Comfort or Eco mode, the flaps remain closed – discreetly and in compliance with ECE regulations.

No remote control, no additional control element – the system completely follows the factory operating concept of your Golf 7 Facelift.

Tailpipes – 115 mm, left and right

The system comes with two prominent 115 mm tailpipes – mounted on the left and right. Compared to the OEM tailpipes of the facelifted GTI, it's a clear leap in look and feel. You have a choice of color:

• Brushed stainless steel: Classic-sporty, high-quality rear
• Black: More understated in appearance, ideal in combination with a black package or dark rims.

• Downpipe connection: On a standard or HJS downpipe
• Tailpipe color: brushed stainless steel or black

Downpipe connection – stock or HJS

• A series: Standard choice for Golf 7 GTI facelift without downpipe modification. The GRAIL is connected directly to the OEM downpipe; the factory OPF remains in the system.
• To HJS: For drivers with an installed HJS downpipe (typical for Stage 2 / Stage 3 setups). The GRAIL is manufactured with a compatible interface for HJS.

Material & workmanship

LMade entirely of 304 stainless steel, with CNC-precision machined components. The silencers are specially tuned in the GRAIL sound lab for the 2.0 TSI engine of the Golf 7 GTI facelift. Flow-optimized pipe routing minimizes exhaust backpressure despite the integrated OPF (Otto Particulate Filter), and the two vacuum-operated flaps made of solid stainless steel switch precisely – even after years of use.

Not suitable for: Golf 7 GTI pre-facelift (separate system, different geometry and without OPF), Golf 7 GTI Clubsport or Clubsport S (own system), Golf 7 R (CJXC engine, own system). Separate GRAIL systems are available in the shop for each of these models.

Information on admission

Registration-free thanks to ECE type approval – applies to all EU vehicles with standard registration. The factory-installed gasoline particulate filter (GPF) remains in the system and ensures full ECE compliance. For imported vehicles with different operating permits, please check registration requirements before ordering.
