The Golf 8 GTI Clubsport is the uncompromising version of the GTI – 300 hp from the 2.0 TSI engine, a crisp suspension, and a Nürburgring-tuned setup. What VW has done to the car acoustically is unmistakable. With the GRAIL 3.5" flap exhaust system, the Clubsport gets exactly the sound it deserves: voluminous four-cylinder punch under load, noticeable backfires during gear changes, and a subtle purr at cruising speed.

Completely made of LHandcrafted in Germany from 304 stainless steel. ECE type-approved – registration-free for all EU vehicles. The 3.5-inch diameter is designed for the Clubsport's performance profile and future stage upgrades.

Valve control – how does it work in the Clubsport?

Since the Clubsport doesn't have its own exhaust flap control system from the factory, the GRAIL system comes with two integrated vacuum-operated flaps. These are connected during installation – a quick and easy procedure. The flaps are then controlled via the Golf 8's driving modes (Sport, Race, Comfort, Eco, etc.).

• In Sport or Race mode, the flaps open fully – full GRAIL sound.
• In Comfort or Eco mode, they remain closed – discreet and ECE-compliant.

The result: You retain your familiar operating concept in the Golf 8 and control the system simply via the driving mode, without an additional remote control or control element in the interior.

Configuration in the configurator

Since the Golf 8 received technical updates with the facelift in July 2024, you also select the model generation and downpipe connection in the configurator:

• Model generation: Pre-facelift (until 07/2024) or facelift (from 07/2024)
• Downpipe connection: On a standard or HJS downpipe

Downpipe connection – stock or HJS

• A series: Standard choice for the Clubsport model, as it comes from the factory. The GRAIL is connected directly to the OEM downpipe.
• To HJS: Those who already have an HJS downpipe installed (typical for Stage 2 / Stage 3) should select this option. The GRAIL is manufactured with a compatible interface for HJS.

Materials & Quality

LMade entirely of 304 stainless steel, CNC-machined components, acoustically tuned in the GRAIL sound lab to the Clubsport's DNFC engine code. Flow-optimized pipe routing minimizes exhaust backpressure, and the two vacuum flaps made of solid stainless steel switch precisely. • 50% deposit upon order placement – we will then order the system from GRAIL
• As soon as the system arrives at our workshop, we will arrange an installation date with you.
• You only pay the remaining amount after the installation has been completed – not before.

Important: The deposit payment option applies exclusively to bookings including installation and is only available via prepayment/bank transfer. PayPal or other payment methods are not accepted for this service.

Swiss suitability assessment

Upon request, you can receive a Swiss suitability assessment for the GRAIL system for an additional fee. If interested, simply contact support.

Registration-free thanks to ECE type approval – applies to all EU vehicles with standard registration. For imported vehicles with a different operating permit, please check registration requirements before ordering. The ECE type approval certificate should be kept in the glove compartment.
