Description

The FLOW DOWN® Velcro License Plate Holder frameless is the clean alternative to the classic screw mount – without a visible frame, no drilling, no screws. The license plate sits directly on the bumper, held by an extremely strong Velcro system. Ideal for those who prefer a clean look without magnets.

The set includes Velcro fasteners for two license plates – one set for front and rear in one package. The adhesive strength is deliberately very high, ensuring the license plate stays securely in place even on the highway and at high speeds.

Material

High-strength industrial hook-and-loop tape with self-adhesive backing. Weather-resistant, UV-stable, and temperature-resistant – designed for permanent use on the exterior bumper.

Usage

Two hook-and-loop fasteners are used per license plate: one is attached to the bumper, the second on the back of the license plate. Thoroughly clean and degrease the adhesive surfaces beforehand. Then place the license plate and press firmly.

Optional installation is also possible at FLOW DOWN® in Essen.

Note on removing the license plate

The hook-and-loop fastener holds very firmly – removing the license plate is possible but not intended for regular use. For metal license plates, we explicitly advise against peeling it off, as the metal may bend or permanently deform when detached. 3D license plates, due to their sturdy acrylic construction, are significantly more resistant and can be easily attached and removed.

Universally compatible with almost any vehicle – regardless of make and model. Suitable for flat and slightly curved bumpers.

Compatible License Plates

Suitable for German metal license plates and 3D license plates. Also fits all common EU license plates (including Austria, Switzerland, Netherlands, Belgium, France, Italy, Spain, Poland) as well as license plates from the UK, USA, and Canada.

FAQ

Is one set enough for front and rear?

Yes. Four hook-and-loop fasteners are included - enough for the front and rear plate. Unlike the magnetic holders, there is no need to order a second set.

When is the hook-and-loop plate holder the better choice over a magnetic one?

When you want the clean, frameless look and no magnets on the bumper. The hook-and-loop holder is bonded permanently and is not made for regular removal - if you take the plate off often, a magnetic holder suits you better.

Does the hook-and-loop system really hold on the motorway?

Yes. The industrial hook-and-loop tape used is high strength and designed for speeds well above motorway pace. Fitted properly, the plate stays securely in place.

Can I still take the plate off now and then, for washing for instance?

With 3D plates removal is no problem, because the acrylic construction is very stable. With sheet metal plates we advise against it - the strong hook-and-loop grip can bend or permanently deform the metal when you pull it off.

Which bumper surfaces are suitable?

Flat and slightly curved painted or plastic surfaces. Strongly curved or textured surfaces are less suitable, because the hook-and-loop tape develops its full grip on smooth areas. Clean and degrease the bonding area thoroughly before fitting.

What should I keep in mind when washing the car?

Neither a classic cloth car wash nor a self-service bay with a pressure washer is a problem for the hook-and-loop system. If you aim the jet directly at the bonded edge, keep a moderate distance.
